Abstract

The phenomenon of using short videos such as TikTok and YouTube Shorts is increasingly prevalent among elementary school students. Easy access to this instant content influences children's learning habits, including their ability to retain information and maintain focus. The background of this study stems from concerns about the decline in students' cognitive capacity due to the rapid and brief media consumption patterns, which may interfere with long-term learning processes. This research employs a literature review method by analyzing various scientific sources, observational findings, and relevant social phenomena. The analysis is conducted using a descriptive-qualitative approach to understand the impact of short video content on memory and learning focus in children. The findings indicate that excessive consumption of short videos leads to decreased attention spans, increased desire for instant stimulation, and difficulties in maintaining concentration during learning. Children become more easily distracted and show a decline in deep information retention. Short videos have a negative impact on memory and learning focus among elementary school students if not properly supervised. Active involvement from parents and teachers is essential in controlling media access and designing learning activities that train focus and long-term comprehension.
