PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT BERBASIS MASJID: OPTIMALISASI FUNGSI SOSIAL MASJID AL-FATTAH MERGOSONO UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KESEJAHTERAAN WARGA

Objective. This community service program aims to empower the community through the social function of the Al-Fattah Mosque in Mergosono, Malang City, East Java, to improve the welfare (economic and health) of the community surrounding the mosque. And also to initiate a community empowerment model that is integrated with the social function of the Al-Fattah Mosque, as an initial step towards improving welfare. Materials and Methods. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involved the active participation of the mosque's management and community from planning to program implementation. The main activities included communal community service to build social cohesion and environmental awareness, as well as waste management dissemination as an educational tool for economic empowerment. Results. The results showed a significant increase in community participation in mosque activities, with over 100 residents participating in the community service. The dissemination program successfully increased community understanding of waste management by 80% and initiated the establishment of a waste bank pilot project that can be sold and increase community income. Conclusion. In conclusion, a participatory approach that translates theological values (such as cleanliness and mutual cooperation) into collective community action has proven effective in revitalizing the social function of mosques as agents for improving the health and economic welfare of the community
