Publication Ethics Statement for Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam

At Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam, our editorial team and staff are committed to ensuring the integrity and ethical soundness of every publication we produce. To maintain these high standards, we strictly adhere to the guidelines and best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as detailed in their recommendations and flowcharts.


Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality research in the field of Islamic education. Our journal publishes articles from diverse perspectives within Islamic education and related fields. Edu Global is available in both print (ISSN: 2747-2434) and online (ISSN: 2747-2442) formats, published biannually in June and December.

The journal's mission is to serve as a platform for the dissemination of innovative research and findings in Islamic education, promoting scholarly exchange and becoming a key reference point for researchers and educators. We are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing, adhering to COPE’s best practice guidelines for editors, authors, reviewers, and publishers.


Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is a vital component in the development of a respected academic network. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles embody the principles of scientific inquiry and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

We believe that all parties involved in the publication process—the author, editor, reviewer, publisher, and the community—should act ethically. As the publisher, the Department of Islamic Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching, State Islamic University of Mandailing Natal, Indonesia, takes its responsibility in safeguarding the integrity of the publication process seriously. We ensure that commercial influences such as advertising or reprints do not impact editorial decisions.


Publication Decisions

The responsibility for deciding which manuscripts to publish rests with the editors of Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam. The editors’ decisions are guided by the scientific value of the work, its relevance to the field of Islamic education, and the potential impact on researchers and readers. Editorial decisions are made in accordance with the journal’s editorial board policies and in compliance with legal requirements, including those related to libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.


Plagiarism Screening

Authors are responsible for submitting original manuscripts free from plagiarism or academic misconduct. To uphold these standards, the editors of Edu Global conduct rigorous checks for plagiarism before publication. These checks are carried out using an offline database developed by the Department of Islamic Education at Tarbiyah and Teaching Faculty, State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and, where possible, through additional online databases.


Fair Play

Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, citizenship, or political ideology. All submissions are considered purely for their academic merit.


Confidentiality

The editors, as well as any editorial staff, must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts. Details about submitted manuscripts should not be disclosed to anyone except the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher when necessary.


Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished material from a submitted manuscript should not be used in the editor’s own research without the author’s written consent. Editors and reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and avoid handling manuscripts where such conflicts may arise.


Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist the editor in making publication decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or are unable to provide a timely review should inform the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. They should not be shared or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should provide clear, reasoned feedback with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify any significant published works not cited by the authors. If a manuscript overlaps with previously published work, it should be flagged for proper citation.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must keep all privileged information obtained through the review process confidential and must not use it for personal advantage. They should not review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest due to relationships with the authors or associated institutions.


Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam undergoes a “double-blind review” process, where at least two independent reviewers assess the manuscript. The editors base their decisions for publication, revision, or rejection on these reports. If necessary, a third reviewer may be consulted to resolve any disagreements.


Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate and truthful accounts of their research and provide a clear discussion of the significance of their work. Any underlying data should be presented accurately, and sufficient detail should be provided to allow others to replicate the study. Fabrication or falsification of data is considered unethical.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. If the authors use the work or words of others, proper citations must be provided.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
An author should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Publishing identical content in more than one journal is unethical.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others is essential. Authors must cite works that have significantly influenced their research.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be restricted to those who have made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All contributors should be listed as co-authors, and all co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. They should also disclose all sources of financial support for their research.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obliged to promptly inform the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in the retraction or correction of the paper.
