Retraction, Withdrawal & Correction Policies

Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Law is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), in handling requests for withdrawal, correction, and retraction of published or submitted manuscripts.

Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawal refers to the removal of a submitted manuscript before publication. Authors may request withdrawal of their manuscript by providing a clear explanation to the Editor-in-Chief.

A manuscript may be withdrawn when:

  • The manuscript contains substantial errors that cannot be corrected through revision;
  • The authors identify ethical or legal issues requiring withdrawal;
  • The manuscript has been submitted or published elsewhere in violation of publication ethics; or
  • Other valid reasons are approved by the editorial team.

The journal reserves the right to consider withdrawal requests and ensure that the withdrawal process does not compromise the integrity of the editorial process.

Correction Policy

Corrections are issued when errors are identified in a published article that affect the accuracy, clarity, or completeness of the scholarly record but do not invalidate the main findings or conclusions of the research.

Corrections may be published when there are:

  • Errors in author names, affiliations, or article metadata;
  • Minor errors in text, tables, figures, or references; or
  • Other inaccuracies that require clarification.

All corrections will be linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain an accurate publication record.

Retraction Policy

Retraction is the process of removing a published article from the scientific record when serious issues affect the reliability or integrity of the work.

An article may be retracted in cases including, but not limited to:

  • Proven plagiarism or significant unauthorized use of others’ work;
  • Fabrication or falsification of data or research findings;
  • Duplicate or redundant publication;
  • Serious errors that invalidate the conclusions of the article;
  • Unethical research practices; or
  • Other forms of academic misconduct.

A retraction decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on careful investigation, consideration of available evidence, and relevant ethical guidelines. When an article is retracted, the journal will publish a retraction notice explaining the reason for the action while maintaining the transparency of the publication record.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editor-in-Chief has final authority regarding decisions on withdrawal, correction, and retraction. All cases are handled fairly, objectively, and confidentially, with the aim of protecting authors, readers, reviewers, and the integrity of the academic record.

Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Law is committed to ensuring that published research remains accurate, reliable, and ethically responsible throughout the entire publication lifecycle.
