Welcome to Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Criminal Law

Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Criminal Law is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Islamic Criminal Law Study Program, Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri Mandailing Natal, Indonesia. The journal provides a scholarly forum for the publication of original research articles that contribute to the study, development, and advancement of Islamic law through theoretical, doctrinal, empirical, comparative, historical, socio-legal, and interdisciplinary approaches.

The journal particularly focuses on Islamic Criminal Law (Fiqh Jinayah) and welcomes scholarly contributions that examine classical and contemporary legal issues within Islamic legal studies. The scope of the journal includes Islamic Legal Theory and Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh and Fiqh), Islamic Judiciary and Dispute Resolution (Qada'), Islamic Constitutional and Political Law (Fiqh Siyasah), Islamic Family Law (Ahwal al-Shakhsiyyah), Islamic Economic and Financial Law, Human Rights and Islamic Law, Contemporary Issues and Legal Reform in Islamic Law, Comparative and International Islamic Law, and Interdisciplinary Studies on Islamic Law.

Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Criminal Law welcomes original and innovative research that offers meaningful contributions to the development of Islamic legal scholarship from local, national, regional, and global perspectives. The journal encourages critical engagement with both classical Islamic legal heritage and contemporary legal challenges across diverse legal, social, and cultural contexts.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure originality, academic quality, methodological rigor, and adherence to publication ethics. The journal is committed to maintaining a transparent, objective, and timely editorial process in accordance with good practices in scholarly publishing.

Uqubah: Journal of Islamic Criminal Law is published biannually, with two issues released each year in July and December. As an open-access journal, all published articles are freely available to readers worldwide without subscription or access fees.
