PELAKSANAAN POLIGAMI BERDASARKAN UNDANG-UNDANG NOMOR 1 TAHUN 1974 TENTANG PERKAWINAN

Penelitian  ini  mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan poligami berdasarkan undang-undang nomor 1 tahun 1974 tentang perkawinan yang terdapat di Batu Payuang Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian empiris, dengan metode pendekatan yuridis sosiologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa poligami yang di praktekkan di Batu Payuang Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban adalah poligami dengan jalan nikah sirih atau tidak dengan seizin istri pertamanya, karena mereka percaya bahwa poligami itu merupakan sunnah Nabi Muhammad SAW dan adanya anggapan masyarakat bahwa tetap dipandang sah walaupun tidak dicatatkan. Padahal hal itu menimbulkan banyak permasalahan bagi kehidupan rumah tangga yang di dalamnya terjadi praktek poligami, seperti telah ada kepastian tentang pembagian harta warisan dan sering terjadi perselisihan dalam rumah tangga pelaku poligami, faktor pemicu poligami di Batu Payuang Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban yaitu faktor ekonomi, faktor biologis, faktor wanita lebih banyak dari laki-laki, jalan keluar yang ditempuhnya memberikan pemahaman kepada pelaku poligami.
